Day 10: Classify Animals by their Habitat
Objectives
Students will...
- Infer where animals live based on their physical characteristics
- Distinguish between domestic and wild animals
- Classify animals by where they live
Materials
- Crayons
- White construction paper, 1 sheet per student
- Magazines, nature calendars and other print resources with photographs of desert, forest, wetlands, and prairie environments
Events of Instruction
- Watch a short video on animal habitats
- Talk about different natural environments with the class
- Have students draw animal habitats like the ones they saw in the video. Be sure that they say which animals can be found in the environment
- Ask students to share them with the rest of the class.
- Take students on an outside walking tour to see the animals that live in the habitat surrounding the school
Assessment
The students drawings will be assessed to see if they understand what types of animals live in each habitat
