Day 2: The Basic Structure of Plants
Objectives
Students will.
- Identify the seed, root, stem, flower, and fruit of a plant
- Create a diagram of a flower and it's basic structures
Materials
- For this activity, you will need construction paper, glue, yarn, different shapes of pasta, and crayons.
Events of Instruction
- Watch video detailing the various structures of a plant
- Have a class discussion on the basic structures
- Have the students create their own diagram of a plant or flower using the materials listed above
Ideas for Differentiation
For students who are not challenged enough by this activity, encourage them to reference the various classroom books to find more detailed structures of plants. Once they have done this, they can add it to their diagram.
Assessment
The completed diagram will serve as the assessment for this lesson.
